Falls Church, VA (March 15, 2002) -- Reactive Systems, Inc. (RSI) announces the beta release of Reactis Tester and Reactis Simulator for Simulink®/Stateflow®. The offerings will enable users to deploy model-based software testing to dramatically reduce the costs of testing embedded software. The tools are designed for use in conjunction with the Simulink and Stateflow modeling and simulation environments offered by The MathWorks, Inc. RSI expects an April release of both products.

Reactis Tester generates test suites from Simulink/Stateflow models. The test suites aim to be comprehensive (exercise large portions of the software) while avoiding redundant tests, thereby maximizing the probability of finding defects within the time available for testing. A major advantage of model-based testing is that in addition to a sequence of inputs, each test also encodes the expected response of the software under test to each input. Therefore the execution of the tests in a suite may also be automated.

Reactis Simulator provides interactive execution of Simulink/Stateflow models. The inputs to drive a simulation may be determined randomly, provided by the user, or read from tests generated by Reactis Tester. Execution sequences may be captured and used to test software implementations of a model.
