FAQ: Product Independent - Reactis License Manager
I have installed the Reactis application on my machine.
How do I configure it to access a license from a remote License
Manager running at my company?
For details see Chapter Installing Reactis of the Reactis User's Guide. In brief, do the following:
- Start Reactis. You will be presented with a License tab.
- Click the Add button.
- In the resulting dialog, enter the IP address of the
machine on which the License Manager is running.
Does Reactis use FlexLM(TM)?
No, Reactis employs a custom License Manager developed by Reactive
Systems and included in the Reactis distribution.
Can the Reactis License Manager be installed as a service?
Yes, after installing the License Manager, from the Reactis folder
of the Windows Start Menu, simply select License Manager ->
Install Service.
Can I view who is currently occupying Reactis licenses?
Yes, you can do that in one of two ways:
- Start Reactis, then select menu item File -> Global Settings...
and then select the License tab.
- From the Reactis folder of the Windows Start Menu, select
License Manager -> License Monitor. This launches a small
utility which displays who is occupying licenses.
The License tab of the Settings dialog and the standalone License Monitor
utility do not display the names and phone numbers of people occupying
licenses. Why not?
For your name and phone number to be displayed when occupying a license,
you must enter this information as follows:
- Start Reactis.
- Select menu item File, Settings...
- Click the User Info tab and complete the fields.
When I exit Reactis, is my shared license immediately available
for use by others?
Yes, the license is released immediately.
I upgraded the machine the License Manager runs on, and now
I get the error message Couldn't find ethernet adapter with
MAC address xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx in this machine when I try to start the
License Manager. What is happening?
Each Reactis license file includes a line that specifies a MAC
address of an ethernet card installed in the machine on which the file
resides. If the address in the file does not match one in your
computer, then you will get this error. When the License Manager is moved
to a different machine, the hardware MAC address will not match
the MAC address stored in the license file, which will prevent
the License Manager from functioning.
